Description[]

"I gave up thieving a long time ago. Now I only take stuff when it's convenient."
— Amanda Beckett

Amanda Beckett (3 BBY) is a young rookie pilot with the New Republic. As a young girl she was quite the trouble maker, having been arrested on a number of occasions for breaking and entering and burglary. When her parents couldn't take it any longer they sent her to a military academy where she eventually enrolled in pilot's training. Very early on she discovered she had a knack for flying. Her sim scores and test scores were almost always above average and though she wasn't technically the hottest stick around she aspired to be. Flying became her passion even more so than thieving though she does still indulge herself in her old practice on occasion, much to the chagrin of her fellow squad mates.

Skills[]

Pilot[]

Piloting has been remarked as Amanda's one and only skill, ignoring for a moment the ease with which she can pick electronic locks or slice through security. Aside from being a thief flying an X-Wing is pretty much the only constructive thing she's done with her life and she's not too bad at it either. Surprisingly she doesn't tend to brag about her skills though that has nothing to do with modesty. She enjoys being good at what she does but she doesn't do it for bragging rights. She's just in it for the excitement.

Thief[]

As a young girl Amanda developed a love for stealing, not because she craved more things but because she enjoyed the rush she got from doing things she wasn't supposed to. To that end she became quite good at picking locks, cracking security codes, blanketing camera feeds and pretty much any other skill a young thief might need in order to succeed. Her obsession with the hobby carried on through her childhood years and even into adolescence where her burglaries became more and more high profile. She didn't always succeed, though, and wound up getting picked up by CorSec on more than one occasion, but she never gave up either. Even as a pilot for the New Republic she still finds time to hone her skills. One never knows when they might need to break in somewhere on short notice.

Weapons[]

Amanda carries around a hand held blaster issued to her by the Republic Navy, though she prefers not to use it. Despite that she's a fairly decent shot with it, but as she describes it there's just something "monstrous" about shooting something that looks like a person.
