Design[]
In the early yeas after the reformation of the Antarian Rangers the group found themselves in need of new ships. The group purchased masses of older ships but wanted something iconic. To this end the group contracted Kuat Drive Yards to create a ship just for them. Their requirements were for a powerful warship to become the ship of the line for the organization. Not receiving proper funding to create a completely new design the company instead looked to a cheaper alternative. The Republic-class Cruiser provided a perfect frame and platform for them to start their new project. Kuati Engineers took away hanger space but increased the size of the bay doors, added extra armor to the hull and an upgraded power generator.
Production[]
Although more expensive than the platform it was designed from, the new weapons and upgraded generator add to the price despite the standardized hull design. It was deemed acceptable by the Rangers and went into full production by the company. The first ship off the line was named Faarel Blackthorne in honor of the fallen hero. Later the republic had an interest in the design. The Antarian Rangers contract with Kuat forbade them from selling the design without the rangers consent, so the New Republic entered Negotiations with the Rangers until consent was given to purchase the vessel as the Republic II-class Cruiser with a portion of each sale going to the Antarian Rangers.
