"The star has a tendency to create repetitive ion storms and the planet is little more than a dustbowl. It is, however, the location of a very significant amount of very valuable treasure..."
— Rethe Frettan

Originally discovered by explorers from the Galactic Republic between 20,000 and 10,000 BBY, Baehorde was catalogued as R29871 and ignored. It was also called Lytegia in the memoirs of Simp Wafahi. Since it was found in the anomaly-ridden space which allowed neither fast travel nor easy exploration, and especially given its odd properties, the system was left alone by the Republic.

The surface of the planet is arid and rocky, supporting neither vegetation nor wildlife. A deep, extensive cave network, however, contains sufficient water deposits to algae and other simple vegetation to grow, but no fauna exists on the planet. The atmosphere is breathable, but is constantly shrouded in dust and is extremely prone to strong winds.

The oddest feature of the planet is caused by its star. The star produces a series of patterned, predictable ion storms which cause severe electrical storms on the planet's surface. How this star continues to produce these storms in sequence without dying out is undetermined, but the effect on Baehorde is extremely damaging to unprotected circuitry and equipment. Though generally avoided over the thousands of years since its original discovery, the planet still sports a graveyard of vessels caught in the storms. Most of these vessels are buried beneath several layers of sand.

In 833 BBY, the planet was selected by the pirate Whit Solomon as a base of operations. In 806 BBY, he was sealed inside that base by his companion Rethe Frettan, and apart from a small number of random incidents, the planet was undisturbed until 17 ABY, when Arlan Hale, Eric Noble, Tieradeff Jaggeron, Yerrix, Sar'Preyvor, Shan Tslav, Frettan, and several members of the Scautus Order arrived on the planet almost simultaneously.
