- "A pretty sturdy starfighter, though it certainly handles better in atmosphere than space. The nearest analog I can think of isn't an X-wing; it's a Y-wing. A fairly sluggish Y-wing by our standards, but when we lost our X-wings, those Blades came through for us."
- — Derek Klivian
Designed, developed and produced by Tarrvin-on-Kallik for the planet Adumar, the Blade-32 Starfighter is used primarily for planetary defense and capital ship support, but is also considered a space superiority starfighter. Hoersch-Kessel Drive has been given permission to sell the starfighters to the galaxy at large.
A direct descendant of the highly collected Blade-28 and Blade-30 fighters, the ship is popular in jet black, although the ships were not made available off Adumar until after their treaty with the New Republic. Despite this, they have managed to find their way into several private collections and mercenary squadrons that are willing to deal with the craft's use of Adumari measurements over standard.
At 18 meters in length, the standard "razor-wing" shape of the Blade-32 lends itself well to its impressive atmospheric maneuverability. The twin engines peak at 900 kilometers per hour in atmospheric flight, although the ship is considered less effective in space combat than its contemporaries in the New Republic.
In more general terms, the Blade-32 is considered comparable to the Z-95 Headhunter, although more heavily armed and armored. It is also comparable to the BTL Y-wing Starfighter in terms of maneuverability, durability, and number of weapons, despite lacking proton torpedoes and shields.
Two pairs of fire-linked laser cannons and a pair of concussion missile launchers (with an impressive capacity of eight missiles per launcher) are the Blade-32's standard weapons. In an unusual design feature, one of the laser cannon pairs is mounted to fire backward.
