Diplomats

Diplomats are individuals involved in diplomacy; the art and practice of conducting negotiations between representatives of groups or states. They are usually studious followers of politics and law. Some are devoted to free democracy. Others are more interested in their own needs.

Ambassadors are diplomats that are officially accredited to a government, or to an international organization, to serve as the official representative of his or her own government. While the specific powers and duties of ambassadors can vary across governments, planets and eras, they typically oversee any embassy functions, staff and property, and as such are usually afforded diplomatic immunity.

During the reign of the Galactic Republic, Jedi Knights were often used as diplomats for missions that were considered too dangerous for the average person.
