Slicers

Slicers are computer experts who excel at working within a complex computer network, and can extract information from networks with great skill. Often, this information is secured by any number and manner of encryption and lockout systems, and a skilled slicer is able to circumvent these systems without triggering alarms or countermeasures. While most code slicing can be performed by droids, the "personal touch" is often required for special jobs.

When tampering with electronic systems, professional slicers generally use specialized computers and electronic lock breakers, many built by the slicers themselves, to eke out a living in the digital world. The simplest forms of slicing didn't require any special equipment; from almost any common computer terminal, knowledge of special codes and network routes can allow an experienced slicer to access records or camera feeds from distant consoles.
