Based on the Desolate

Charon Starships are used by the Charon species to move through Otherspace and as replacement homes for their dead planet. Most of them are a strange amalgamation of Charon bio-technology and whatever else they can scrounge from those who encounter them. Since the Charon hollow out asteroids to build their ships, no two are exactly alike, but they all share a few common traits.

All Charon Starships are powered by a central core that runs through the ship; this power core gives life to every part of the ship. The term isn’t metaphorical either, all Charon ships – thanks to their bio-technology – can be said to be at least partly alive. Charon ships are capable of repairing damage on their own and in a limited sense can respond to threats to the vessel without input.

The interior of the ships resemble insect hives and feature specialized chambers for cargo, fuel, the ship’s brain, a nutrient processing facility, waste conversion, armories, laboratories for the bioscientists, nesting areas, and hangars holding a varying number of Charon Starfighters. Additionally, arenas and shrines to the Cult of Death are commonplace.

For attack, Charon ships use bio-generated plasma energy emplacements which are comparable to turbolasers. For protection inside, the Charon can disperse their infamous red mist, capable of killing most known organisms except the Charon themselves, or unleash bio-engineered creatures to tear the invaders apart.

The Charon Ships that followed Sivter into realspace were given otherdrives, which allowed them to cross the dimensional barrier from otherspace. These were all destroyed during the Battle of Mon Calamari.
