The Corona-class Frigate is a new incarnation of the venerable Nebulon class of frigates that sees use in the navies of the Galactic Empire and the New Republic. The hull is slightly longer than a Nebulon-B2 Frigate, yet shorter than the Nebulon-B.
With the armament mounted on the hull, it is a match in firepower with the original Nebulon-B, and the much improved shielding and hull strength gives it an advantage in battle even over the better-armed Nebulon-B2. This vessel's high level of automation allows it to function at high efficiency with three quarters the crew of the other Nebulon frigates. The vessel's speed is also on a par with the fastest capital ships in the fleet.
With the advent of the New Republic's New Class Program, most of the Corona Frigates in their fleet have been replaced by the Sacheen-class Escort.
