The Divinity was originally the flagship of the 7th Fleet before the New Republic requested an additional three more Divinity Class Destroyers be produced. Now, it is the personal Command Ship of Fleet Admiral Alarice Mollari of the New Republic Navy.
A ship unique in it's own right, it was designed with one thing in mind, sheer space superiority. Both KDY and XCS decided it be best to sacrifice cargo space for both additional fighter and reactor space in order to have this ship do what it was designed to do. Cortana Deveraux and KDY believed that the New Republic needed a stronger symbol besides the MC90 Star Cruisers in which to stand behind.
Currently the only vessel of it's class to have seen combat is the Vigiliance which was involved in the Conflict at Cyteen and the engagement of pirate forces near Bespin.
