Sable Det was one of several operational detachments consisting of the highly specialized troop variant, First Order Raider. FO Raiders were typically tasked with hunting down and acquiring ancient Sith and Jedi artifacts by the Supreme Leader. Their ranks were filled with troopers that were identified and recruited from existing stormtrooper legions and then given extensive special forces training in multiple disciplines.
Sable Det was one of the very first Raider detachments to gain operational status after the founding of the trooper type. Sometime in 32 ABY, the detachment was dispatched to the Luxury Liner 'Wanderlust' to apprehend a pair of force sensitive fugitives of the First Order. The mission was complete failure, though, as the team was unable to capture their targets and sustained devastating casualties. By the end of the mission, they were down from twelve Raiders to only six, two of which were seriously wounded.
