Hez Juoanti (41 BBY) has been with the Dark Star for even longer than Dolomar Daktren. He is well liked by the crew and has a good knowledge of standard battle techniques and formations.
However, for whatever reason, Juoanti lacks a certain spark to distinguish himself from other officers. He's a solid captain, but is not very innovative when it comes to battle.
Juoanti's rise through the ranks has been slow and he has frequently been passed by for promotions by younger up-and-comers including his current commanding officer: Dolomar Daktren. Nonetheless, no one knows the Dark Star better than Juoanti - both the ship and her crew.
It was for that reason that Daktren promoted Juoanti to commander when he became captain, and then to captain when Daktren moved up to vice admiral. The two have an informal dialogue created by years of working together. Both men look to the other for thoughts and advice.
They know each other so well that Juoanti will often have carried out Daktren's orders before Daktren can give them.
