History[]
Colonized by Galactic Standard species sometime in the distant past, Isen and its handful of colonies were prone to war, mostly within themselves. Backwater worlds, forgotten for centuries, Isen and its colonies were conquered by Inquisitor Xal Shun around ten years before the Battle of Yavin. Isen served as Shun's throne world until his death 0 ABY; it then became his daughter Aerianna's capital, and the source of a military buildup that conquered a handful of nearby worlds, in addition to Isen's colonies.
When Aerianna Shun died in 13 ABY, the planet was central to the sector's civil war. Pirates and warlords caused significant damage to the planet, but greater damage came when large sectors of the working population were forcibly conscripted. Only now are the economic repercussions vanishing.
Over the years, the planet Isen has acquired a powerful Dark Side nexus at the ruins of the imperial palace. Dark Side spirits walk the halls, including the Shuns, Inquisitor Seren Teancum Mordavo, Nightsisters Sira Ves and La-Reia Beorht, and several Isen nobles who died in and prior to the civil war. It was the location chosen by Velok to 'reanimate' Lyn-Char Beorht.
The planet's unique atmosphere makes it ideal for the Kabeen hive mind's use as a breeding ground. Large, conical hives have been constructed near major cities.
