History[]

"Isen nobility, as trained by the Shun dynasty, were fairly bland, not-especially-strong Dark Jedi who knew the core abilities and some lightsabre technique, and that's all. They rarely had to go up against other types of Force-users, and even then they were usually amateurs. The Shuns, father and daughter, guarded their secrets closely, and never taught them to their minions."
Brembla Kol-Rekali, private notes

The Isen Star Empire was first unified by a defected Imperial Inquisitor named Xal Shun. Under Shun (who died around the time of the Battle of Yavin) and later his daughter Aerianna, the ISE pursued a course of vigorous expansion and conquest in the Unknown Regions. The noble houses were predominantly tall, blonde, Force-sensitive humans; their simple self-training was expanded in certain cases by the Shuns, who picked certain nobles for training as Dark Jedi. These Dark Jedi operated more in an oversight and enforcement capacity than an administrative one, and though there were Dukes, Earls, Barons and so forth already, there was a vast difference in role between Force-trained and untrained nobles.

In 12 ABY, the ISE became a founding member of the ISA, or Interstellar Sovereigns Alliance. At one point it convinced the Black Star Confederacy to leave the ISA and join the short-lived Interstellar Concordium; later, both nations rejoined the ISA. Friendly relations were established with the Sith Empire under Norik Kun. The ISE resisted an assault from the Uul'ba-Rai, and accepted the membership of the much less lucky Jade Sector.

In 13 ABY, a civil war broke out with the death of the Empress, and the ISE fragmented. Noble houses and pirate lords turned the sector inside out. Eventually, the area became unified as the Bandit Kingdoms, dominated by a pirate group known as Black Nova that preyed on the Jade Sector of the BSC. Jade Sector forces worked with Sandian Imperial League Templar ships to fight the pirates and conquer the sector, which was occupied by the SIL. When the Jade Worlds declared independence and became the Jade Empire, the Isen sector became an official part of the new government.

Nexus[]

Over the years, the planet Isen itself has acquired a powerful Dark Side nexus at the ruins of the imperial palace. Dark Side spirits walk the halls, including the Shuns, Inquisitor Seren Teancum Mordavo, Nightsisters Sira Ves and La-Reia Beorht, and several Isen nobles who died in and prior to the civil war. It was the location chosen by Velok to 'reanimate' Lyn-Char Beorht.
