"The past is important, but never at the expense of the present, because the present creates the future."
— Kalja Ashla Leidias

Kalja Ashla Leidias is the first member of the Leidias Family known to use the "Kalja" name and it's because of her deeds and exploits that the family started a tradition after her death of naming each subsequent first-born daughter after her. Her mother gave her the middle name of Ashla because she had great respect for the Jedi Order. As it turned out, Kalja had incredible potential in the Force and ended up being the first member of the Leidias family to be accepted as a Jedi.

Kalja lived during the Expansionist Era, but her exact date of birth and death are lost to time. It is known that while she was still in her teens, Kalja fought alongside her fellow Jedi during the First Great Schism against the Legions of Lettow. She was considered to be quite formidable on the battlefield in spite of her young age, but she ended up sacrificing her life to help achieve victory during the Battle of Chandrila.

After her death, Kalja was able to maintain her spirit in the Force as her body was interred into the Chandrilan Crystal Canyons - the first of what would eventually be a wing dedicated to Leidias family Jedi. As a spirit, Kalja had a vision of the War of Darkness and that one of her descendants would need her help to prevent a Shatterpoint that could plunge the galaxy into eternal darkness.

Kalja spent countless millennia communing with the Force to fulfill her role in her vision. That time would finally arrive when Kalja Sairu Leidias arrived on Chandrila in 18 ABY in search of a way to reconnect fully to the Force. Kalja Ashla was ready and able to help her distant successor. Additionally, her Force Blade, despite being buried with her and unused for millennia, was still sharp enough that Delth Ardin was able to use it to kill Vok Ruvege and protect the Kaljas.

After her final purpose was fulfilled, Kalja allowed her spirit to fully merge with the Force.
