One of the species conquered by the Isen Star Empire under the reign of Empress Aerianna Shun, the Kotala resisted bitterly, eventually taking part in the rebellion that sparked the Isen Civil War and the formation of the Bandit Kingdoms.
The Kotala civilization had achieved spaceflight, but not hyperspace travel, prior to first contact with the ISE. They had their own peaceful, exploratory Force tradition, the Jukre Star Sailors, many of whom were imprisoned or killed by Shun's nobles.
