Origins of Kytross[]
Kytross was a name I created for a character in the Tonepor universe, a universe my brother and I created while playing G.I. Joes as kids. The entire Tonepor universe came about towards the end of our time playing with the old 3 3/4 inch figures, so unlike the rest of the characters we created, there wasn't actually a G.I. Joe figure that Kytross was based on.
My brother and I gave up on G.I. Joes but we continued with Tonepor creating a vivid new reality. The characters stay with me to this day, Hete, Trax, Keli, Rusty, Atron and Atrix. Who knows, maybe one day my brother and I will get around to ironing out the continuity issues and write the novel we've meant to for so long.
Anywhom, we skip ahead a year or five to 1998. The Pentium chip was making computer processors fly at speeds up to almost 200 megahertz! There was this thing called 'electronic mail' that was sweeping the nation and corporations were GIVING AWAY FREE email accounts. Can you imagine such a thing? So here I am, a freshman in college sitting in front of my buddy Bryan's computer, because I don't have my own, trying to come up with a good name for a yahoo account. Yahoo had apparently been giving away free email accounts for months and all the good ones were taken. I tried my first name and that was taken, I tried my last name and that was taken. What to do? What to do? I tried a few of the character names that were still rattling around in my head. Kytross was the last one I tried and the only one that was available. I still use that yahoo account to this day.
Since then I've used Kytross for everything. It was my account name for Everquest, City of Heroes, World of Warcraft and all the other MMO's I've played. I'm signed up on hundreds of message boards as Kytross. Hey, I just did a google search for kytross and it was all me. So when the Star Wars Galaxies boards came up, and me being an avid Everquest player at the time, I figured Everquest+Star Wars=Awesome and I signed up. I met alot of cool people on those boards and had a blast.
Back then I ran a neat little thread called Outlaw Tech. I helped alot of newbs learn how to turn thoughts into sentences and sentences into paragraphs and paragraphs into posts. I wrote the first "Unwritten Rules of Roleplaying thread" that eventually got modified and stickied and transferred over to the Exodus boards. I also came up with the "3 paragraph post" rule, at least, I don't remember anyone else coming up with it. And I argued ALOT about which Star Wars books were good and which were bad.
I bounced around a lot back then, from message board to message board. I still do. But wherever I wander Exodus is still home. Some of my favorite creations are here.
