- "Evil must be confronted, never ignored!"
- — Lanlia Leidias
Lanlia Leidias was the kid sister of Kalja Valie Leidias and tends to be overshadowed in history by the exploits of her older sibling, however Lanlia is notable for being a veteran of the Mandalorian Wars and preserving the Leidias family bloodline during an era that saw the deaths of many Jedi. Without Lanlia, it is likely that the lineage of the Leidias Family would have ended with the death of Kalja Valie.
Throughout the generations of the Leidias Family, Lanlia is also known as the family member that came closet to falling to the Dark Side. She had several brushes with being seduced by it while fighting the Mandalorian forces with the Revanchists. However, either by circumstance, the strength of family bonds, or the love of her husband, she was able to avoid going down the dark path. It's possible that if Lanlia had fallen to the Dark Side, the Leidias Family wouldn't have survived into modern times.
Lanlia would eventually be killed while facing Darth Nihilus to save her family from the First Jedi Purge. Her sacrifice allowed her family to escape his clutches and eventually survive the purge.
History[]
Lanlia was born near the very end of the Post-Manderon Period and was raised in the chaotic environment of the Sith Wars. She grew up idolizing her older sister and her exploits. However, one day, when she was only 6 years old, she was shocked to learn that Kalja Valie had sacrificed herself to seal away an army that might have significantly bolstered Exar Kun's forces. The loss of her seemingly invincible sister scarred the young Lanlia for life and helped shape her later views on the nature of good and evil.
When she was old enough, she trained hard to be a warrior with few equals within the Jedi Order. By the time of the Taris Siege during the Mandalorian Wars, Lanlia had become a powerful Jedi Knight, skilled in battle techniques. She was also one of the first Jedi to respond to the Mandalorian threat following Taris. However, she eventually grew annoyed that the Jedi and the Galactic Republic weren't doing enough to fight the invaders and joined a growing movement under the leadership of another Jedi by the name of Revan.
As a member of the Revanchists, and under Revan's charismatic leadership, Lanlia was willing to do just about anything asked of her to stop the Mandalorians. Her aggressive fighting style and lack of mercy for her enemies had her frequently flirting with the Dark Side, but before she could fall completely she ended up meeting the man who would eventually become her husband. Historical records are spotty, but it is believed he was a Republic soldier.
In the last year of the Mandalorian Wars, Lanlia became pregnant and had to retire from the Revanchists in order to have her child and raise her family. It's possible that this saved Lanlia from falling to the Dark Side like so many of her comrades in the Revanchists after the war - to say nothing of Revan himself.
Lanlia stayed out of the following Jedi Civil War in order to raise her family and remained mostly out of galactic affairs until the First Jedi Purge occurred. As a former Revanchist, Lanlia and her family were some of the first to be targeted by the Sith Triumvirate. Darth Nihilus arrived at Fresia to personally kill Lanlia and her family and absorb all life from the planet.
In order to protect her family, Lanlia bravely fought her way through Nihilus' forces and confronted the Sith Lord. Although vastly outmatched by her opponent's power, Lanlia was able to distract Nihilus long enough for her husband to flee the planet with her son. Her stand against the Sith Lord also prevented Nihilus from absorbing all life on Fresia before Republic forces arrived to secure the planet.
Lanlia would not survive her encounter with Nihilus, and the colonists of Fresia were so devastated by the attack that the planet would be abandoned for thousands of years. However her sacrifice allowed her husband and son to go into hiding on Mindor and survive the Jedi Purge. It would then fall to her son to continue the Leidias bloodline.
