- "Give me one reason why I should not give the order to fire!"
"I can give you two. One, we are here in peace, despite appearances. Two, you would not live to see it." - — Eren Mil to Lucath
A former Sith, Lucath turned to the Light Side and led the Brotherhood of the Twilight (part of the Jedi Order since 23 ABY) alongside Nietdaeth.
By 41 ABY, he had married Leria Wulff, and fathered two daughters, Aran and Jenne. According to unconfirmed rumours, Laila Darkflame was also his daughter.
Appearance[]
Lucath wore black Jedi robes, carried a double-bladed lightsaber, and quite often had a scowl on his face and a dangerous gleam in his eyes; his pale skin (a side effect of his Dark Side use) did nothing for his appearance. The initial reaction of most people who met Lucath for the first time was fear, apprehension, or wariness; and he liked it that way.
Personality[]
As a Sith, Lucath was a cold and cynical person with no patience for fools or failures, though he showed a much softer side with Leria Wulff.
After he left the Sith, he became less cold and more often showed his soft side, especially around the Brotherhood, though most people would still characterize him as cold and cynical, with no patience for fools.
He cared deeply for Laila, treating her as a daughter, and loved his wife and daughters dearly, and was a warm and patient, if quite demanding, father; and woe betide anyone who tried to hurt them...
Though Lucath was a fearsome combatant, thanks to his mastery of all seven forms, he preferred to avoid fighting. If forced, he would attempt to disarm and/or disable his opponent rather than kill them.
Biography[]
Early history[]
Lucath was born on Korriban, the son of two Sith soldiers. Soon after his 16th birthday, he was inducted into the forces of the Sith Empire and trained as a Sith Acolyte.
Between 9 ABY and 11 ABY, he was stationed on the planet of Simpla-12. Here he started a relationship with a cantina owner (and suspected rebel) Leria Wulff. He used guile and deceit to control her, but genuinely loved her.
When he turned 23, he was assigned to the planet Ami'ri as a customs commander alongside another Acolyte, Nietdaeth.
Leaving the Sith[]
While on Ami'ri, he became disenchanted with the Sith Empire, and he planned to leave as soon as possible. Nietdaeth harbored similar feelings, and when an opportunity presented itself, they seized it.
A young smuggler, Matthew Donovan, had been captured during a run to Ami'ri. Under the guise of wanting to use the smuggler to find a traitor, the two Acolytes left Ami'ri, and went to Dellalt. There Lucath came upon the street boy Beliel, and took him as his apprentice. The plan was then to go to Nar Shaddaa, where Matthew would be free to leave.
That was not to be. While en-route, the group was captured by pirates. Moving quickly, Lucath and Nietdaeth disabled the pirate captain and took command of the pirate ship, forcing them to return to their base. Once there, they managed to persuade the pirate leader, Noel Silvermoon, to make an alliance with the group. This was the beginning of the Order of the Twilight.
The Brotherhood years[]
Lucath and Nietdaeth spent two months training Matthew and Beliel. By then, the limited knowledge of the two former Sith was becoming apparent, and when the news of the fall of the Sith Empire reached them, Lucath and Matthew went to Ossus in search of a Holocron.
They found more than the Holocron; the former pilot Keira Darkflame joined them on Ossus, and was taken as an apprentice to Lucath.
When they returned, they found that Nietdaeth had recruited several others for the order: the Fallen Jedi Niran Quinn, the Firrerreo Leos, the Kiffar Gaebriel Marien, the Cathar Uraki Tysus, and the near-human Zhang Li.
These five new recruits were trained primarily by Nietdaeth, only occasionally coming across Lucath, who preferred to train his own three apprentices. During their training, events led to Quinn and Zhang Li falling briefly to the Dark Side. They returned to the Light Side, but the events resulted in Quinn leaving (later to become a member of the Jedi Order) and Zhang Li ending up in a coma. Uraki left the Brotherhood before time to seek out his parents.
Shortly after, the pirates and the Brotherhood left, settling on the home planet of Leos, Firrerre.
Until 16 ABY, the Order resided on Firrerre, as part of an informal alliance with the New Firrerre Republic, but after the Firrerre Sector plunged into chaos, they left. Lucath and his brethren settled on Chalacta.
Return to Sith Space[]
In 18 ABY, Lucath was convinced by Mahana Sira to aid her and the Jedi Order in infiltrating the Sith Enclave in order to rescue the Jedi kidnapped in the Sith assault on Sabii. As a result, he came back into contact with Leria Wulff...
Pre-Legacy Era[]
Keira Darkflame gave birth to a daughter in 19 ABY, and named her Laila. She refused to reveal the identity of the father, but everyone else assumed that it was Lucath.
He married Leria Wulff in 20 ABY. They had a daughter, Aran, in 21 ABY, and another, Jenne, in 22 ABY. The Brotherhood became part of the Jedi Order in 23 ABY, after lengthy negotiations, and Lucath was confirmed as a Jedi Master.
Thanks to the efforts of Lucath and his compatriots, the Brotherhood became a stable on Chalacta, serving as neutral arbiters and occasionally helping law enforcement against particularly dangerous criminals, as well as supporting numerous charity organizations.
He began training his daughters in 35 ABY, and they were still his apprentices by 41 ABY.
Hapan Negotiations[]
Lucath was headhunted to lead the negotiating team from the New Republic alongside NR diplomat Telan Ro. His Imperial counterpart would be James Ardin II, son of Delth Ardin and Kalja Sairu Leidias.
Initially, he was worried that he had only been chosen for his past; as it turned out, he was partially right, but not for the reasons he thought. His presence was a message to the Hapans that your past was no hindrance for future relations, particular in relating to Arien Garix.
Initially squaring off against Nyalla Casara Avori, the pair was revealed to be quite alike, both blunt and to the point.
As a Jedi, he was widely disliked in the Hapes Cluster, due to historic grudges, and had to navigate these dislikes to achieve his goals. Not much of a wordsmith, Lucath tended to be as blunt as usual, though he tried to temper it, if only for Ro's sake (since her task would be much harder, the more blunt he was).
After attending a banquet, during which he both impressed and horrified the locals with his Force-centered gifts, he joined the pacification of the Museum of Hapes alongside Arien Garix, James Ardin, and Elysia Tyrsia Avori. Infiltrating the Museum alongside Arien Garix, Lucath - at the request of Garix - used non-lethal force against the terrorists...
Jedi Trials[]
After Lucath returned from Hapes, his daughters underwent their trials under his supervision, and became Jedi Knights.
Information & Statistics[]
Lucath spent his free time maintaining and improving his skills, both physical, mental, and Force-based, and by 41 ABY he was a master at lightsaber combat. He used a purple dual-bladed lightsaber, capable of splitting apart into twin lightsabers.
Lucath spoke Galactic Basic Standard, Huttese, Chalactan, and Sith.
Lightsaber Combat[]
Starting out as a student of Shien / Djem So, Jar'Kai and Saberstaff Combat, by 41 ABY he had mastered all seven forms, and was close to mastering Fast Style and Tràkata.
He was well-versed in Dun Möch, but rarely used it as it required application of the Dark Side.
Known Force Powers[]
Lucath had access to a wide range of powers, thanks to his constant drive to better himself.
Besides the Core Powers, he could anticipate his opponent's moves, and his fighting spirit was remarkable. He could absorb and dissipate energy, deflect incoming projectiles, stun his opponents, and even form a barrier or wall of Force energy. He could also resist mind control, refresh himself, and ignore pain.
Lucath could also control his breath, calm and even speak with animals, understand any spoken language, and pick up an individual's emotional state. He could also protect himself from others trying to influence his mind.
His command of the Force was strong enough to allow him to feel if his loved ones were in danger, examine past events, and predict possible outcomes, induce nausea in opponents, and mask, or even change, his perceived alignment in the Force - an ability that served him well, when he infiltrated the Sith Enclave in 18 ABY. In rare instances, he also had the ability to survive injuries that should have killed him.
Lucath retained his ability to use Force lightning, though it worked slightly differently, being able to stun an opponent rather than purely kill. He also had the ability to use it purely to disable droids.
Dark Side Powers[]
Though Lucath knew how to use the Dark Side in various ways, he would not do so unless given no other choice, as doing so inevitably brought him closer to the Dark Side.
His powers included the ability to sap the willpower of everyone around him, extract knowledge from someone without their consent, torture someone by making them relive their worst memories or by simply causing his victim to experience great, incapacitating agony, use the Force to choke or crush an opponent, or burn them; he also had the ability to use Force lightning.
Lucath had also proven capable of using Force scream at least twice.
