The MC80 Star Cruiser was one of the first designs used by the Rebel Alliance following the Battle of Yavin. MC80 cruisers are warships converted from the older star-liner designs, thus sporting a smaller hangar bay that only provides for three star fighter squadrons. MC80's are no longer available for production because of their age and incompatibility with the shipyards' modern machinery. Conversions from the remaining older designs of star-liners are possible but are not very popular.
The MC80 would lead to two better known variations, the MC80a Star Cruiser, and the MC80b Star Cruiser.
