Mikhail Lytle was a Force-sensitive 'orphan' when he was found by Iara Clane, Sith Knight and Governor of the Anari Sector. The Sith Empire under Norik Kun had recently collapsed, and Iara found herself wanting an apprentice. She took him in and trained him. For his part, Lytle fell in love with his decades-older Master.
Over the course of the Xen'Chi War, Iara continued Lytle's training while they and the Anari Sector fleet waged guerrilla warfare. Much of his training took place in her base of operations on Bpfassh. Lytle was bitterly jealous when Iara took the steps necessary to restore Lyn's memory and reunite with him.
In 16 ABY, Lytle followed his Master and her husband to the City of the Jedi. The Battle of Taylon was in progress. When the two were captured by a Xen'Chi Hetch'hek-class Cruiser, Lytle recklessly boarded it and provided an escape route. As Lyn gave his life fighting GAIT's droids, Iara and Lytle escaped.
Shortly thereafter, Lytle disappeared. He stole information from Iara in the process, including the location of the Valley of the Jedi. Darth Sirena found him and took him under her wing. He briefly fought both Iara and Adam Sage on Sabii, but escaped the planet along with his new Master. In later engagements during the liberation of the Anari Sector, Lytle reappeared. When the Sage's Destiny finally traced Sirena to Ruusan and the Valley, Mikhail took part in the final confrontation. His part in it was uncertain until he ousted Sirena from her position within the Force nexus, and the power of the Valley of the Jedi became fused with Mikhail. Comatose, he was airlifted along with other wounded by Ember Rekali and Benna Kol-Rekali.
Over the following months, Benna visited him often in the Ossus Jedi Temple's infirmary. She found that her Aing-Tii flow-walking abilities were drastically amplified in his presence.
Eventually he awoke. The two became close throughout several missions, including an incursion into the Sith'ari Centrality and then the Empress Teta system, searching for Felicity Sage who had been kidnapped by Ald Sorosel. Mikhail's unique connection to the Force only manifested itself at times of high stress, as when he vaporised the undead Sith Master Seren Teancum Mordavo in Benna's defense.
It was during his time with the Jedi that he learned of his true heritage: he was the brother of Adam Sage, and had a family.

Before the Valley[]
After the Valley[]
Although usually a normal Padawan, in Mikhail dwells the power of the Valley of the Jedi. He is the next best thing to an incarnation of the Force. This power has been shown to be sufficient to utterly defeat the extremely powerful Seren Mordavo, and break the bonds of Darth Sirena's Sith Magic, which connected him to his undead body.
