Jedi Master Mira Keen was the former Padawan of Jedi Master Aldar Melron, and the master (and mother) of Alis Keen.

Taken as the Padawan of Aldar Melron at the age of 12, by the age of 15 she had already seen much of the galaxy, having joined an expedition to explore the different Force sects. This made her curious, and she became a scholar of the Force in her own right, much like her Master.

After studying under Aldar for eight years, she was confirmed a Jedi Knight in 21 ABY, 19 years old. She remained close with her former Master, however.

She had a daughter, Alis, with fellow Jedi Jaek Gren in 24 ABY, though the pair soon parted ways again.

By 41 ABY, she was a powerful Jedi Master, able to use many and varied powers, whether Baran Do techniques, Dathomiri Spells, the telekinetic abilities of the Zeison Sha, the often-unique powers of the Order of the Tak Lords, and even an Aing-Tii power. In addition, she knew many obscure Jedi powers as well.

Personality[]

Much like her old master, Mira was kind, caring, patient, empathic, brave, and selfless. She didn't like fighting, but she didn't shy away from it either, and was quite aggressive in battle.

History[]

Early Years[]

Mira Keen was born on Nubia in 2 ABY. The daughter of a local farmer, Siren Keen, and his wife Donia Keen, Mira had a mostly careless childhood. She worked her father's fields in the morning and played with her friends in the afternoon.

It was on her twelfth birthday that she met Aldar Melron. He came bearing a gift, and the moment Mira lay eyes on him, she knew he would change her life forever.

Life as a Padawan[]

Aldar took her to Lok, where he trained her in the arts of the Jedi. She excelled at her training, but it was cut short when Mira had a vision of Aldar fighting a dark clad warrior. They journeyed to Nar Shaddaa, but never found the warrior.

After a while, they journeyed to Onderon, where Aldar continued Mira's training.

The Sojourn[]

In 17 ABY, Aldar heard of an expedition intended to explore the various Force traditions of the galaxy. He quickly applied to it and received confirmation. He and Mira journeyed the place where the expedition was to begin and joined the crew.

Their first visit was to the Baran Do, where Aldar and Mira studied their techniques of hassat-durr. They then travelled to Dathomir, where they learned many "spells" from the Dathomiri Witches. They then travelled to Yanibar, where they studied the telekinetic abilities of the Zeison Sha.

After being dismissed from Yanibar after the revelation that Karak Ror, a Patriot from the Jade Empire wore a wire during training sessions, Mira and Aldar travelled with the rest of the group to the Kathol Outback to attempt contact with the elusive Aing-Tii.

They made contact with the Aing-Tii, who agreed to train them. During the first day of their stay, Velok was revealed as a Darksider, and Mira protected Aldar, while he scanned the mind of a willing Velok for the truth. Despite Aldar subsequently vouching for Velok, the rest of the group demanded that Velok leave, which Aldar and Mira made sure happened without incident. This also more or less left Aldar in charge of the expedition.

Standing up for Velok did not make Aldar or Mira popular with the rest of the group, and for the rest of their stay with the Aing-Tii, the only individuals to remain on a friendly footing with them were Kalo-Kaa, Rach Kol-Rekali and Benna Kol-Rekali.

Convention on Dieron[]

After several weeks, the Aing-Tii left, and the expedition continued into the Unknown Regions, to a convention held primarily between three Force traditions; the Order of the Tak Lords, the Patriots, and the Temple of the Voice. After arriving on the moon Dieron in the Black Star Confederacy, the group was greeted by several representatives, including Rhiannon DeVij, leader of the Tak Council.

The convention, though held by those three organizations and hosted by the Tak in their temple, also included representatives from many other Force traditions, such as the Shapers of Kro Var, the Cor shamans, the Disciples of Twilight, the Lucent, the Gesaril carvers, and even the Nuns of G'aav'aar'oon. The convention was held over several weeks and included lectures about history and culture, demonstrations of weapons and unarmed combat techniques, and demonstrations of Force powers.

While there, Mira struck up a friendship with a young Tak Apprentice, Talia Brunesi, that would last decades.

Less than a year later, Aldar took another Padawan, Nissha Tarkash, after saving her from a Dark Jedi, but losing her father. Mira and Nissha got along right from the start, and became fast friends.

Sometime during this, they returned to Nubia to visit her parents. At that point, she hadn't seen them in 4 years. She promised to return more often.

Jedi Knight[]

Mira was confirmed as a Jedi Knight in 21 ABY, alongside Nissha. She journeyed to the Black Star Confederacy, where she spent a year learning from the Order of the Tak Lords before returning.

Shortly after returning to Ossus she met, and fell in love with, fellow Jedi Knight Jaek Gren, becoming pregnant a year later, and giving birth to a baby girl in early 24 ABY. She named her daughter Alis.

She returned to Nubia to show her parents their grand-daughter, but Jaek declined to come. When she returned, he seemed distant and wanted nothing to do with Alis, and they soon parted ways.

Now alone with her daughter, she sought refuge with her old Master, Aldar, and together with him and Nissha - who also had a daughter, Reena, by now - she raised her daughter. Aldar did not take another Padawan after Mira and Nissha, and shared his time between his studies of the Force, helping to train new Initiates, and tending to his 'daughters and granddaughters' as he jokingly called them.

Mira was made a Jedi Master in 36 ABY, alongside Nissha, and took her daughter - now 12 - as her first Padawan. Aldar guided her for a time until - in early 41 ABY - he was asked to take on another Padawan. Their little family - Nissha having taken Reena as her Padawan - would now count six.

She didn't like Ori Dreel at first, but eventually warmed up to her.

Information & Statistics[]

Mira's double-bladed lightsaber

Unlike her master, Mira was much more prone to combat while remaining somewhat pacifistic as Jedi go. She had been trained in every lightsaber form, and was a master of Form VII and proficient with Form I, Form II, Form III, Form IV, Form V, and Form VI. She also had some training in Silent Path.

During most of her training, she utilized a single-bladed blue lightsaber. After the Convocation on Dieron, she began training with a double-bladed yellow lightsaber, concentrating on mastering Form VII.

She still used the double-bladed lightsaber as a Master, though she was well-versed with a single blade. She was also able to use a normal blade in battle, even against other Force Users, thanks to her Force Weapon skill.

She owned a Force Sword, which was bonded to her - a gift from Talia Brunesi.

Known Force Powers[]

Mira knew several Force techniques, including the Core Powers, Absorb / Dissipate Energy, Battlemind, and Farseeing. She was vastly skilled in Telekinesis, thanks to training by the Zeison Sha, as well as Telepathy.

During the Sojourn in 17 ABY, Mira trained with several other Force groups: from the Baran Do Sages, she was taught the Hassat-durr family of techniques, including Ayna-seff, as well as learning Electric Judgement from a Baran Do master, Dok Tan.

From the Witches of Dathomir, she learned many spells, including Alter Environment (a Force technique she proved exceptionally skilled at) and Force Healing.

After training with the Zeison Sha, she became skilled in the technique known as Force Weapon, and had fully mastered it by 41 ABY.

From the Aing-Tii, Mira learned Fold space, though it took her years to fully master the technique. She had mastered it by 41 ABY, and could teleport herself and others between places on the same planet, and potentially between worlds. She rarely used it, however, as it was very taxing.

Other techniques included Animal bond, Breath control, Comprehend Speech, Force barrier, Force Stun, Force Track, Inertia, and Resist Stun.

Notable relationships[]

Aldar Melron[]

Her former master, Aldar and Mira were as close as father and daughter, and she considered him a second father.

Nissha Tarkash[]

Aldar's second Padawan, and one of Mira's closest friends, she and Nissha were very close, and she considered her a sister.

Talia Brunesi[]

Mira met the blonde Tak Lord at the Convocation on Dieron in 17 ABY, and the two immediately formed a close friendship. When Mira returned to Dieron in 21 ABY, it was at the invitation of Talia. The two became even closer during the next year.

They met several times after Mira returned to Ossus, most notably in 41 ABY when Talia came to visit her. She once again invited her and her family to Dieron, which they accepted.

Alis Keen[]

Mira loved her daughter more than anything, and would do anything to protect her. She felt guilty for Alis not having a father, even though Alis did not agree.

Reena Tarkash[]

Mira loved her 'niece' Reena almost as much as she loved her own daughter.
