"Don’t thank me until after you live up to your claims. You may soon come to curse my name rather than praise it."
— Mortrassa Trinivii Jian

Mortrassa Trinivii Jian is the Kajidii, or leader, of the Trinivii Kajidic and the grandparent of Dorval Trinivii Jian. Although considered venerable for his species, Mortrassa is in excellent shape for a Hutt and tends to be much more mobile than many other Hutts who have achieved such corpulence. A cunning and wily being, Mortrassa is also a bit of a firebrand, and isn’t shy about voicing his opinion when the clans gather to discuss business.

History[]

Like many Hutts, when he was younger, Mortrassa was tasked with creating his own successful business empire to prove his worth as a potential successor of the kajidic. In 863 BBY, he set up operations on Argazda and quickly became the preeminent crime lord of the Kanz Sector. This would eventually bring him to the attention of Whit Solomon who seemed to particularly enjoy raiding the Hutt's holdings, sparking the Solomon-Trinivii Conflict.

At one point during the conflict, Mortrassa secretly tried to negotiate with Solomon for the return of some funeral urns that contained the remains of Alir Trinivii Kerrik, even offering the pirate 200,000 credits if they were brought back safely. Solomon agreed to the deal, but would end up betraying Mortrassa by taking the money but keeping the urns. Instead he filled the cargo container that had held the urns with sweetmeats, earning Mortrassa's eternal enmity.

The conflict would come to an end only after Solomon exiled himself to Baehorde for reasons outside of the conflict. Eventually Mortrassa assumed the pirate died of old age and tried to put the entire unpleasant experience behind him. He continued to grow his criminal empire, becoming a powerful and influential figure within the kajidic. Finally, in 694 BBY, Mortrassa was selected as the next leader for all of Trinivii.

Growing the Family[]

Under Mortrassa's leadership, Trinivii remained a small but powerful kajidic. He would eventually decide his position within the kajidic was secure enough to have a child and gave birth to a Huttlet named Jaska. Once Jaska was old enough to be considered accountable, Mortrassa instructed his progeny in everything he knew about business before letting his offspring strike out on his own.

Jaska proved to be competent enough in business, but he seemed to lack the drive to truly stand out. However Jaska's own child, Dorval, showed much more ambition once he came of age. Rather than mentor Dorval like he had with Jaska, Mortrassa decided to challenge his grandchild with various tasks to see if the young Hutt's cunning and intelligence could match his desire for power. Much to Mortrassa's delight, Dorval was frequently able to fulfill and even exceed the duties assigned to him.

Rise of the Empire and Beyond[]

In 4 BBY, he was one of the most vocal Hutts when the clans decided to fine the Besadii Kajidic after they failed to contribute to the bribe of Admiral Greelanx to throw the Battle of Nar Shaddaa.

In 18 ABY, Mortrassa was contacted by a member of the Kuras Tetrarchy, named Freyel, who gave him some unpleasant news. Apparently Whit Solomon had managed to survive, with all his memories intact, by cloning himself for hundreds of years. After Mortrassa was able to confirm that the information wasn't some kind of trick, he left to try and capture Solomon and ended up becoming involved in the Third Battle of Kuras IV. Unfortunately his old enemy managed to once again slip from his grasp.
