Nuria is, unusually, home to two sentient species: the Litaka and the Altari - though they have discovered long ago that the Altari have not originally evolved on the planet.
It is an archetypical terrestrial planet. Just less than two thirds of its surface is covered with oceans, and terrain offers nothing unusual. Altari cities reside primarily in desert regions, or along rivers and coastlines along those regions. The Litakans originally inhabited the mountain ranges many centuries ago, and some ancient ruins still tell tales of those days. In more modern times they live in the famous skycities of Nuria, grand repulsorlift complexes hovering high above ground. Some Altari and several other species have taken to living in those skycities as well, but Litakans on ground are a comparably rare sight.
Due to these cities, much of Nurias surface seems untouched by civilisation, a great amount of old ruins and deserted settlements aside. A few small ground settlements by other Dominion species exist as well, even some Kartanin have taken residence in the northern mountains. The planetary government is still reluctant and undecided as to how they should allow colonisation efforts on a larger scale.
