- "The maneuvers of the Path require a profound connection to the Force, and the ability to hold that connection for minutes on end while in the most stressful circumstances. A Path devotee has to be in a state of high physical fitness - the kind you can't get from weight rooms. Either you can do it, or you can't. That's why you're a trainee or a master, nothing in between."
- — Halla Terrablade
The Outside Path is the result of combining ancient jiann training with the Force. The result is spectacular to watch: an often aerial form of combat with distinct similarities to Form IV: Ataru and Sokan.
Generally, only graduates of Level Three in the Jade Empire Armed Forces are taught the style, which requires a significant grasp of the Force, an affinity for acrobatics, manipulation of the air and perceptual time dilation. Before his death, insight was provided by Jedi Master Lyn-Char Beorht, a proponent of highly active lightsabre styles. Jedi Knights Brembla Kol and Ember Rekali also contributed. The bulk of the style's foundation, however, is credited to Empress Halla Terrablade, a Force-user and one of the Jade Empire's last surviving blademasters.
Notable users include the Empress, Kol and Rekali. Colonel Siriss Cortann also learned something of the style before her imprisonment and defection.
The Outside Path has only two ranks, known as White and Black. White signifies a trainee; Black, a master.
Behind the Scenes[]
The Outside Path was inspired by and patterned after the fighting in wuxia 'wire-fu' movies.
