The Raven Strike Interceptor carries less raw firepower and protection than the X-wing, made famous by the New Republic, but its advanced drive systems and maneuvering thrusters make it both extremely quick and agile; able to intercept and pursue enemy ships with ease - even through the toughest of maneuvers in a standard fighter. If inertial dampners are left offline, the fighter can accelerate from a standstill to 115 MGLT in less than six seconds - exerting a force of three standard gravities on the pilot. Any maneuvers would add to this amount. Therefore, only the best inertial dampening systems were installed.
With the advent of new technologies, a new version of the Raven Strike Interceptor was eventually created, the Mark II. The only differences between this version and the original is that the 4 primary engines have been upgraded to new state of the art fusion drives, and the hull and shields have been improved. However, it should be noted that despite these advantages, the Raven is still less well shielded than the Republic's signature fighter.
