S.H.I.E.L.D. is a famous organization, founded years ago by the original Nicholas Fury. The organization's purpose was to help control supers throughout the world, and to help facilitate the supers as they helped the world. On the scene if a super went rogue or a villian decided to strike, S.H.I.E.L.D. would lose a great number of agents and assets during the Chrell invasion. It would take some time for the organization to rebuild, spending massive amounts of money to, in essence, restart the organization. With that rebirth, the focus of the organization did not change, though the aim and goals did.
