Though only the greatest Masters could create a holocron, the Sorkatar Holocron was nearly completely empty when Velok found it in the effects of Aorali Ventirri in 50 BBY. The gatekeeper, a Bith Dark Lord named Sorkatar, reported that he had been killed in the process of filling it. Much of what he knew had been told him by Ventirri. Velok kept the holocron.

At one point, he put it beside Vulta Daanat's Holocron so the two gatekeepers could interact. They did, but his hopes, that Daanat could teach Sorkatar and thus copy Daanat's holocron, were frustrated.

Gatekeepers[]

Sorkatar[]

A Bith, this Dark Lord lived some time after Exar Kun. His simulacrum alternates between being helpful and imperious, but knows almost nothing.

Ori'vod[]

Detori Battlemaster Arianah 'Ori'vod' Windryder's simulacrum knows few overt Force powers but can lecture extensively on duelling and lightsabre techniques. She also knows Knowledge by Instinct, Sphere of Influence and the history of the Detori. She was a Prophet of the Dark Side, and at one point learned Darksight from the Sorcerers of Rhand.

Velok[]

A collector of esoteric, even useless techniques for centuries, Velok has recorded a great deal of trivia as well as some very important techniques and insights. Access, however, is limited to those he considers worthy - in the sense of having an altruistic streak. Jedi and 'homicidal maniac' Darksiders are among those he will not teach. Every technique he has ever learned, even if he only ever used it once, has found a place in the holocron's matrix.

The holocron's knowledge includes:

Ashin Varanin[]

This gatekeeper is a sombre young woman, reticent about her past, who wears armour. Her main contribution to the Sorkatar Holocron is the tuning or harmonizing ability of the Jukre Star Sailors, though she has recorded some thoughts on tracking via the Force. The Jukre techniques have proven very difficult to learn.

Darth Kren[]

The Dark Lord of the Sith Empire, after his death, was absorbed by Velok. The Whiphid, conscious of the difficulties and potentialities of ectomancy in all its forms, created the Kren gatekeeper as a method of storing and categorizing Kren's lifetime of knowledge. This includes:

  • Lightstaff combat
  • Weather manipulation
  • Sith alchemy, biological
  • Sith alchemy, material
  • The Gordian Reach
