The Specter is a very powerful and very specialized ship that was the personal craft of the Darksider known as Sivter until his death. It was then taken by his apprentice, Raii Meriaz, who continues to use the craft for her own purposes. The Specter has served its masters well since its creation and remains an impressive starship well into the era of 40 ABY.
Design and Modifications[]
The Specter was custom-built for stealth and speed and is used primarily to infiltrate worlds without being noticed.
It is primarily designed for flight as opposed to fight. It can quickly reach speeds on par with some of the fastest starfighters to escape pursuit. For offense it only has a single quad laser cannon and a concussion missile launcher, both forward mounted to clear a path for the Specter should it need to escape.
The ship is also treated with a rare substance known as stygian-triprismatic polymer that makes it nearly impossible to detect through sensors. A state-of-the-art electronics package helps the Specter to jam the systems of enemy ships as well as to slice into other computer systems to allow the ship to pass through guarded territories unnoticed.
During the War of Darkness, it was outfitted with a fully functional Otherdrive so it could travel freely between Realspace and Otherspace. Unlike the Otherdrives Sivter gave to the Charon, the Otherdrive on the Specter has no failsafe, so it was unaffected when Garrett G. Granth IV hacked the Charon drives to destroy them. As such, the Specter likely has the only functional Otherdrive left in the galaxy.
When Raii inherited the ship after Sivter's death, she meticulously kept upgrading the ship to keep it on par with changing technology.
History[]
Until acquiring the Specter, Sivter would often move around the galaxy by sneaking aboard other ships. He was also not above twisting the mind of a ship owner and turning them into his personal slave if he found a particular ship worthwhile. It wouldn’t be until the events surrounding Chisas that Sivter would find the need to get his own ship.
While still a part of the Cult of Dragon Masque, Sivter secretly sliced an order for a state-of-the-art ship that would later become the Specter into the database of the Corvella Shipyards during a raid. Like so many of Sivter’s acquisitions, he would later return and steal the ship right from underneath Corvella’s noses without paying a single credit for it. A virus of Sivter's own creation wiped out all trace of the ship from the Corvella database after it was stolen, ensuring that the Specter would be well and truly unique in the universe.
After it came into Sivter's possession, the Specter became one of his best kept secrets. Few knew of its existence or its true abilities as Sivter mostly used it for his own personal business. With the Specter, Sivter was able to raid countless worlds without anyone the wiser as he sought to grow the Cult of Shadow and assemble the pieces needed to unleash his War of Darkness.
When Raii assumed ownership of the ship after Sivter's death, she maintained the same level of secrecy for the craft, using it for her own dark plans.
