The Strident-class Star Defender is the New Republic’s answer to the scaled-down versions of the Executor-class Super Star Destroyer fielded by the Galactic Empire, such as the Infinity-class, or the Nemesis-class. It carries many of the same benefits as the Imperial models, being a capable and intimidating command ship at a fraction of the cost and manpower it would take the Republic to build and crew a Viscount-class Star Defender.
There are few Stridents currently in service and are only seen in the largest or most important fleets of the Republic.
