The Strong Style of lightsaber combat is a derivative form created after the Battle of Endor that shares similarities with Form V. It is unclear where it originated, but it seems to have become popular with many lightsaber duelists. Unlike the classic forms, the Strong Style and the other two derivatives, Fast and Medium, are considered simplified versions of the classic forms as they all are much less complex.

Style and Stance[]

The Strong Style is based primarily on powerful and lunging strikes to batter through defenses.

Users of the Strong Style typically utilize an aggressive and powerful stance, the lightsaber being held high and back, ready to lunge with powerful swings with the blade.

The style incorporates great power, sharing some features with other aggressive styles, namely Shien and Djem So of Form V as well as Shii-Cho of Form I. Whether the similarities between the Strong Style and the mentioned forms are because of derivative relations or overlaps in functionality is unknown.

Advantages and Disadvantages[]

As with all the derivative styles, the Strong Style has both its advantages and disadvantages.

Advantages[]

The Strong Style covers great distance and is thus efficient against several opponents. Due to its utilization of strength and power, the Strong Style causes more damage than many other forms of lightsaber combat. It is especially efficient against multiple opponents who are not armed with melee weapons. However, in lightsaber combat, the Strong Style can tear through lightsaber locks with relative ease and can be difficult for lightsaber welding opponents to block the powerful strikes used in the style.

Disadvantages[]

Being based on powerful, lunging, and swinging attacks, users of the Strong Style often leave themselves open to counterattacks. It is also slower than many other forms of lightsaber combat. The Strong Style can thus be disadvantageous in one-on-one melee combat in terms of speed comparisons against faster opponents. The style also leaves the user more open to attack after blocking a blaster shot or projectile weapon.
