Tangrene is a craggy mountainous world, almost completely devoid of surface vegetation and water. The planet was home to a peaceful indigenous species of nomads, also known as the Tangrene, until they were enslaved and eventually wiped out by the local Imperial Moff during the Imperial Period. The planet has no known cities and is mainly used for mining and military installations.
Exodus Divergence (Clone Wars)[]
During the Clone Wars, Tangrene was located deep within the borders of Separatist space. In 19 BBY, near the end of the war, it was rumored to house a superweapon capable of wiping out Republic armies and their Jedi commanders.
The planet was eventually assaulted by the Vanguard Fleet, under the command of Hisani Sane and Reng Kasr. During the battle it was discovered that the superweapon was a Darksider known as Crix. Hisani was able to incapacitate Crix with Malacia until he could be frozen in carbonite.
The planet would be abandoned after the battle until the arrival of the Galactic Empire.
Imperial Period[]
The Empire made Tangrene one of its most heavily defended fortress worlds. It was protected by ten Imperial-class Star Destroyers and from ten to fifty other smaller ships. Fifteen Imperial garrisons were scattered throughout the planet. The indigenous species was enslaved by Imperial forces and forced to help construct the Imperial fortifications. They were eventually wiped out by the local Moff to avoid any risk of insurrection.
Exodus Divergence (After 4 ABY)[]
Tangrene remained under Imperial control until it was taken by the Crimson Empire at some point during the Shadow War. In 19 ABY, Darth Trayus tried to lure Cazzik Wyn into a trap on the planet only to underestimate his foe and receive a nasty lightsaber wound for his trouble.
During the Unification Period, Tangrene fell back under the control of the Galactic Empire. In 37 ABY, the planet became the base for a small enclave of rogue Darksiders. The enclave was targeted by a joint operation between the Imperial Knights and the Jedi Order, led by Kalja Falanis Leidias (and supervised by Faye Halomek). The success of the mission became the final test for Kalja Falanis to obtain the rank of Jedi Knight.
