Toshiro was given his first lightsaber in 41 ABY by his father, Akain Karna. The lightsaber is one of Akain's older sabers. In turn, Akain was "given" the lightsaber by Tulsar Leidias. Akain reassembled the parts under Tulsar's guidance. Since then, he used it in conjunction with his copper lightsaber as his two primary sabers. Sometime between 18 ABY and 41 ABY, Akain ceased using the lightsaber regularly, saving it as a gift for Toshiro.
