- "Never forget that we were brought here. Tython is a planet rich in the Force, but it is also a place of mystery, unknown to us, existing here for eons before the Tho Yor arrived. Its age is deep, its stories deeper."
- — Deela jan Morolla
Tython is a planet in the Tython system of the Deep Core that played a pivotal role in the histories of the Je'daii Order and its successor, the Jedi Order. It is a verdant world that is incredibly rich in the Force, that has been settled and abandoned several times in its history. The planet was thought to be lost when the ancient Jedi Order departed the world for Ossus and the Deep Core erased the known hyperlanes to the planet. It was rediscovered in 18 ABY by two separate Jedi, Aaralyn Blackthorne and Kalja Sairu Leidias, who each searched for it and found it on their own within the same year.
Kalja used her connections to set up a new Jedi Temple on the planet which turned the planet into a focal point of peace between the Empire and the New Republic. The construction of the temple would eventually lead into a new settlement known as New Joy. Since Tython is deep within Imperial territory, it is heavily patrolled by the Empire with a standing fleet in orbit and a garrison down on the planet. Additionally, there is also a satellite office for the Imperial Knights.
As the Headmaster of the Tython Temple, Kalja helps to govern the world in tandem with the Imperial forces. Kalja's sensitivity in the Force, which allows her to detect incursions to the planet, backed up by the might of the Imperial military, has helped to make Tython one of the safest planets in the galaxy. The planet still has other dangers, natural to the world, but generally if people stick to the colonized portion of the world, living on Tython can be considered to be idyllic.
Tython System[]
The Tython system is large, consisting of 11 planets that orbit a large yellow star known as Tythos.
- Sunspot, the first world, is a small planet close to the sun. Sunspot's surface is covered by volcano ranges and magma lakes and rivers, with clouds of noxious gas filling the atmosphere. There are various abandoned mines on Sunspot from past attempts to create settlements to mine the world for Petonium and Marionium.
- Malterra, the second world, is a small planet with a very hot climate and violent storms. The most violent storms occur when Sunspot and Malterra pass each other during their respective orbits. The planet is also dotted with abandoned mining settlements.
- Nox, the third world, was once a major manufacturing center. This heavy reliance on manufacturing caused the planet to become so polluted that every city had to be put under a protective domes to provide a clean living space. After the Jedi left Tython, Nox was abandoned soon afterwards.
- Krev Coeur, the fourth world, has a surface so hot and arid that no lifeforms developed on the planet. However, below the surface is an extensive network of caverns filled with jungles, lakes, and even an atmosphere capable of rain.
- Tython is the fifth planet in the Tython system.
- Kalimahr, the sixth world, was once considered to be the jewel of the Tython system, a temperate planet filled with city spires built from white metal. It was eventually abandoned a few thousands years after the ancient Jedi left Tython due to the hyperlanes at the time failing.
- Shikaakwa, the seventh world, was another colonized temperate planet that became abandoned when the hyperlanes at the time started to fail. When it was still populated, it was known to be ruled by feudal gangster clans.
- Ska Gora, the eighth planet, is a world covered in forests. Much like Ithor, it had colonies that were giant city ships that roamed across the world to maintain the environment. The planet and its city ships were abandoned soon after the Wookiee Land Wars that ravaged much of the natural beauty of Ska Gora at the time.
- Obri, the ninth planet, is a gas giant with three moons.
- Mawr, the tenth planet, is a gas giant with seven moons.
- Furies Gate, the eleventh planet, is a cold lifeless world notable only for once being the location of Fury Station, which was used by the ancient Tythans to launch sleeper ships which would help to colonize Empress Teta, Corellia, and Coruscant.
Terrain[]
Tython has four continents, many of which are littered with ruins, dangerous fauna, and other hazards. Currently only one continent has an active colony on it. There are two large oceans that separate the continents and one large sea.
Land Masses[]
- Talss, the largest continent on Tython. It's sometimes referred to as the Dark Continent due to it being mostly wild and filled with natural hazards such as the Rift, a thousand kilometer-long stretch of volcanic mountains. The southern end of Talss features bizarre and alien landscapes ringed by rolling hills that that descend into wide, endless plains that lacked significant plant growth due to the extremes of the winds. At the tip of the continent is the Red Desert, wherein stands the ruins of the Old City which is mostly buried in sand. The ruins of the old Jedi Temple are located on this continent.
- Masara, is a large island continent northwest of Thyr. The terrain is mostly rolling hills, winding rivers, and a forestlands to the south known as the Edge Forest. The New Tython Temple and the colony of New Joy is located on this continent.
- Thyr, a northern continent separated from Kato Zakar by the Thyrian Ocean. It is mostly known for the Stark Forest and the Silent Desert.
- Kato Zakar, sometimes called the Firelands, is a southern continent mostly known for a large amount of volcanic activity in the center of the continent. Closer to the Southern Pole is the Ice Giant Range.
- Moon Islands, a series of seven islands located in the Moon Channel sea, between Kato Zakar and Talss.
Water Features[]
- Deep Ocean, a giant ocean that covers much of the planet. It is located between the Eastern coast of Talss and the Western coasts of Thyr and Kato Zakar.
- Thyrian Ocean, an ocean located in the center between Thyr, Kato Zakar, and Talss.
- Moon Channel, a great sea located between Kato Zakar and Talss that also contains the Moon Islands. The Moon Channel is notorious for having rough waters and giant sea creatures.
History[]
It was on this world that the brightest and best philosophers, priests, scientists and warriors came together in 36,453 BBY to discuss their discoveries involving the enigmatic, mystical Ashla. Dissidents who used the Bogan eventually arose around 25,793 BBY, sparking the Force Wars of Tython. From the ashes of these wars arose the early Jedi, whose Jedi Forge initiation ceremony led to the invention of lightsabers after they faced threats from beyond Tython.
Initially, the Jedi believed their power was limited to Tython only, though this was later proven otherwise when a proactive group left Tython to liberate other worlds, becoming the Jedi Knights around 25,783 BBY. Jedi from Tython founded a philosophy school on Ossus, defining the light side and dark side of the Force (equivalent, respectively, to the ancient Ashla and Bogan), and the Living Force and Unifying Force. Some legends claimed that Tython's explorers traveled to Caamas to learn proper moral judgment.
Old Republic Era[]
In an effort to utterly purge the known Galaxy of the Terentateks, viewed by the Jedi Order as monstrous abominations that posed as an affront to the Force, the Jedi Council charged many of the Order's members with the task of hunting down the creatures and executing them with extreme prejudice. Known as the Great Hunt, many Jedi dispersed throughout the Republic to hunt down and destroy the monsters that preyed on the blood of Force-sensitives. Among the worlds that were cleansed was Tython, thus ridding the Jedi's ancient homeworld of Terentatek threat in 3,994 BBY.
Tython's location was lost at some point, but was later rediscovered during the early years of the Great Galactic War by the Jedi Satele Shan. After the Sacking of Coruscant in 3,653 BBY, the Jedi Order relocated its primary residence to the Jedi Temple on Tython. There, they proceeded with the task of rebuilding the Order, despite encountering trouble with a local Twi'lek pilgrim colony and a mysterious influence emanating from the world itself. Around that time, a group of marauders, known as the Flesh Raiders, began attacking the population of Tython. The planet's native inhabitants petitioned for aid from the Jedi in order to retaliate against the Raiders, but the Jedi Council refused so as to not involve the Order in Tython's local affairs.
Sometime well before 1,990 BBY, the hyperlane to Tython had become unstable and forgotten, though it remained recorded in the Jedi Archives. At some point after 1,289 BBY, Belia Darzu built a massive temple that she used as one of her barracks for her army of technobeasts; she also left her holocron in this temple.[10] In 1,230 BBY she was poisoned on Tython by the Mecrosa Order at the behest of her fellow Sith Lords. But, her technobeasts remained in the temple, waiting for the next order from their master who never returned.
By the year 990 BBY, no one had traveled to Tython in some time because of its location in the Deep Core. However, rebel leader and aspiring Sith Hetton had located navigational charts to Tython. He later passed these charts onto Darth Zannah, in return for a promise for apprenticeship. Zannah later betrayed Hetton, and gave the charts to her master, Darth Bane. While Zannah left for the Jedi Archives, he traveled to Tython to access information on how to construct a Sith Holocron from Darzu's holocron. There he found Darzu's temple. Inside, he located her holocron, though it was surrounded by her technobeasts, still awaiting their master. After slashing through the mass of the beasts, Bane got ahold of the holocron he sought and spent the next few days studying its many secrets. Tython featured lush forests.
After Zannah fled from the Jedi Archives on Coruscant, Jedi Masters Valenthyne Farfalla, Raskta Lsu, and Worror Dowmat, along with Jedi Knights Johun Othone and Sarro Xaj, pursued her to Tython. When they arrived, they fought Bane and Zannah. The two Sith Lords defeated them, killing them all. However, Bane was seriously injured. Zannah departed, taking her master to Ambria in hopes of finding the healer Caleb.

((Rough Draft)) Sometime after 900 BBY the hyperspace route became unstable to Tython and the navigational charts essentially became useless. It was said that only a person who had the ability to use the Force could locate the true path to Tython. One such person was Aaralyn Blackthorne. A fallen Jedi Knight who was plague with visions of Tython and the Jedi Homeworld for many months. After the destruction of the Jedi Temple on Onderon, she fled the planet in an old freighter after a fierce duel with her former Master, Faye Ward.
