The V-Wing Transport was used by the New Republic to deploy four V-Wing Airspeeders from capital ships. The transport is manufactured by Slayn & Korpil and would go on to be developed into the Type B, which could carry six V-Wing Airspeeders with much success. It would then later get a third version, the Type C, where it was developed into a transport that could carry just about any of the New Republic military vehicles down to the surface of a planet.
History[]
The design came about due to frustration over the slow deployment of military airspeeders, which had previously depended on slower transports or assembly on-site. As the V-wing speeder was being designed, an accompanying transport was also being made by Slayn & Korpil. Prototypes and limited production of the Type A served as a test bed for the craft. The Type B would later be the mass produced model and serve in just about every New Republic Fleet.
With the success of this transport Slayn & Korpil wanted to take it a step further, the V-wing Transport was developed further into the Type C, which allowed it land up to six vehicles at a time and deploy troops as well. This is dependent on the size of the vehicles that are being carried. A HAVw A5 Juggernaut for instance would take up two slots on the transport.
With the Type B and Type C as standard transports on New Republic vessels, maintenance is easier and reduces the dependence on Imperial or old Clone War era Military Landers.
