Xerchite Kalja was a nameless Xerchite that had been bonded to Jedi Master Kalja Sairu Leidias through a Dark Side ritual known as Xerchite Possession. The ritual was performed by Darius Malakai to try and help Sivter find a way to keep Kalja from interfering with the progress of his War of Darkness.
Malakai was confident that even if the ritual wasn't enough to stop Kalja, the aftereffects of being exposed to a Xerchite parasite would drive her to despair and madness. In a rare miscalculation, Malakai underestimated the true depths of Kalja's power which resulted in the Xerchite rapidly manifesting itself on the Ardin in a matter of days rather than the weeks or months it would normally take.
Due to being bonded to a doll that Kalja had cherished as a child, the Xerchite Kalja manifested a physical form that matched what Kalja looked like at a young age and even developed some child-like sensibilities. Although she had all of Kalja's memories and knowledge, she regarded everything as a game as she spread death and destruction. Xerchite Kalja systematically disabled the Ardin to trap the crew so she could "play" with them without interference, but her ultimate goal was to lure the real Kalja to her so she could consume what was left of her life and power.
Xerchite Kalja proved to be nearly unstoppable despite the best efforts of Elena Connor, Delth Ardin, and the highly trained soldiers aboard the Ardin. She was only stopped when Kalja threatened to kill herself to keep Xerchite Kalja from winning her game. She then forced Xerchite Kalja to take them somewhere where it would only be the two of them. The parasitic doppelgänger agreed and tore a hole in reality to bring them to the Swift Light, which she had thrown into space before beginning her destruction of the Ardin.
It was there that Kalja grabbed ahold of Xerchite Kalja and discovered the true nature of the manifestation. Kalja was able to use the same connection the Xerchite had been using to sap her lifeforce and powers and reverse it. Once they were equalized, Kalja used the Force to trace Xerchite Kalja's connection back to the doll she had been spawned from and destroyed it - eliminating Xerchite Kalja in the process.
Abilities[]
Xerchite Kalja was a dark reflection of what the real Kalja Sairu Leidias could be like if she didn't restrict herself to a fraction of her true power. Everything was a toy to her that she could break as soon as she got bored with it. Weapons were worthless against her. She even demonstrated some powers that Kalja Sairu had never used before, such as being able to tear a hole in reality to move between spaces. Perhaps due to the nature of being a manifestation, she could also turn herself intangible and even re-manifest in different locations.
Xerchite Kalja's child-like personality proved to be her eventual downfall, which the real Kalja was able to manipulate to stop her rampage and ultimately defeat her.
